Overview
This day tour will take you through Taipei’s most festive and Instagrammable spots for Christmas, including Xinyi Shopping District, where you can see numerous glamorous Christmas installations besides Taipei 101; as well as the Christmas display in Bellavita Mall, which showcases a different winter scene yearly.
Christmasland in New Taipei City is another highlight on your Christmas day tour. Every year, this Christmas market is held under a different theme such as Lego and Disney characters. The enormous projection-mapped Christmas tree in the venue was recommended by Harper’s Bazaar as one of the “19 Most Amazing Christmas Trees in the World”. The dazzling illuminations and the eye-catching Christmas-themed stores offer great photo opportunities, making your photos stand out on Instagram and other social media sites.
In addition to the Christmas glamor and glitz that the city has to offer, during this tour, you’ll also experience the time-honored Christmas tradition of visiting a church and feeling the joy and harmony this holy season brings to life. Although Christmas is celebrated grandly in Taiwan, most people still pray for peace and comfort in the temple. We’ll finish the tour by visiting Taipei’s oldest temple, Longshan Temple, to take in a different way of celebrating the holiday.
Christmas is coming! Come and join this Instagram day tour, making your Christmas memories tangible.

Description
Every year during the Christmas season, Taipei’s streets are illuminated by colorful lights, while the shops and restaurants are spruced up with Christmas decorations accompanied by Christmas-themed music. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a repeat guest, you will be treated to a unique experience in Taipei during the holidays.
From the past to the present, Christmas has been one of the most important days in the church year to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Going to a church during this season is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere. The altar and pedestals are decorated with lights, wreaths and garlands, welcoming visitors to celebrate the love of Jesus.
The next stop of your Christmas day tour is Xinyi Shopping District, the busiest shopping area in Taiwan. A number of department stores, malls and high-end restaurants are located in this area. The window displays are lovely to behold during this festive season, which are always designed with fantastic winter themes. In addition to the stunning lights and the window displays, the Christmas installations of the department stores and malls are brimming with photo opportunities that will make your cameras busy.
While in Xinyi Shopping District, we will also visit Taipei 101 and its adjoining Taipei 101 Mall, which features numerous luxury retailers. Satisfy your shopping cravings, while you enjoy a visual feast from the stores’ extravagant Christmas displays. The French fashion brand Dior’s pop-up art installation is also a must-see. From its dazzling Christmas tree to the shining Star of Bethlehem, it always brings the Christmas spirit to spice up your holiday.
If time permits, you may go to the observatory at your own expense to enjoy the best panoramic view in Taipei.
The tour continues with a visit to Bellavita Mall. Commonly known as “the mall for socialites”, this mall provides a luxurious shopping experience with exquisite wide open spaces and elegant interior design. If you are looking for something luxurious to reward yourself with during your trip, this is the right place.
The most intriguing part of the mall is the Christmas display, which showcases a different winter scene yearly. Past years have included scenes such as a winter ski resort and glass igloos in Finland.
Although Christmas is celebrated grandly in Taiwan, most people still pray at traditional temples for peace and joy in the new year. After lunch (at your own expense), we will visit the oldest temple in Taipei, Longshan Temple, which was built in 1738 and dedicated to Guanyin (the Goddess of Mercy).
In Taiwan, temples are usually decorated with colorful Koji ceramics, carved stone columns and paintings, which depict gods from Chinese mythology. During this section of the tour, we will discuss the differences and similarities between the two cultures using our previous destination (the church) and this temple as an example.
Afterwards, we’ll head to the biggest highlight of our tour. Get your smart phone or camera ready, because you don’t want to miss out on any potential Insta-worthy photos at Christmasland in New Taipei City.
Christmasland in New Taipei City takes place in the Civic Plaza of New Taipei City and covers a huge area, making it one of the biggest Christmas markets in Asia. The enormous projection-mapped Christmas tree in the venue was recommended by Harper’s Bazaar as one of the “19 Most Amazing Christmas Trees in the World”.
Every year, the event highlights a different theme such as Lego and Disney characters. With illuminated skywalks, life-size statues of cartoon characters, amusement rides and themed shops, the area becomes a playground appealing to all ages. Whether you visit alone or with company, there’s a countless number of things to do which will make your holiday a memorable one.
Your tour ends with a drop-off at MRT Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station around 21:00.
