TAIWAN’S SECRET TROPICAL PARADISE

Baishawan Beach, also known as White Sand Bay, is the best kept secret of Kenting and Kenting National Park. Renowned for its pristine golden-yellow sand, warm clear waters, and year-round pleasant temperatures, Baishawan Beach is said to be one of the best beaches in Taiwan. The beach gained international recognition by serving as a filming location for the movie “Life of Pi,” standing in for a tropical Mexican shoreline.

Unlike the bustling Kenting Beach, Baishawan offers a serene and less crowded atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for beach enthusiasts seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

Additionally, the beach provides essential facilities, including showers, toilets, and a convenience store, ensuring a convenient and comfortable beach experience for visitors.

Although snorkeling is possible when the sea is calm, Baishawan is not known for its abundance of marine life or vibrant coral. However, the northern end of the beach offers the best snorkeling opportunities.

For those looking to spend the night near Baishawan, several guesthouses are available, primarily in the mid to high-end range. However, budget accommodations such as backpacker hostels can be found in the nearby town of Hengchun, just a short 10-minute drive away. Camping enthusiasts can also opt for Happy Baisha, a well-equipped campground that offers ocean views and various amenities, though it tends to be busier on weekends and holidays.
