Longmen-Yanliao Bikeway
The Longmen-Yanliao Bikeway is a dedicated path exclusively for cyclists and pedestrians. Starting from Fulong Train Station, the bikeway takes you across a suspension bridge that spans the Shuang River estuary, granting easy access to the beach area. You can pedal your way along the bikeway all the way to the north end of the beach, reaching the charming Yanliao Beach Park. Bike rentals are conveniently available outside the train station, and after a short stroll across the main road, you can safely continue your journey away from the hustle of traffic.
Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival
One of the highlights of Fulong Beach is its breathtaking golden sand, crafted mostly from the mineral quartz. Not only does it provide a comfortable sunbathing experience, but it also effortlessly molds together when wet, making it a prime location for sand sculpting. In fact, Fulong Beach has been crowned as the best beach in Taiwan for sand sculpting by the esteemed World Sand Sculpting Association.
Every year, the highly anticipated Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival takes place, serving as a vibrant celebration of international exchange and the art of sand sculpting. The festival showcases dozens of magnificent large-scale sand sculptures that stand proudly, showcasing the creativity and dedication of the artists. From marine life to mythical creatures, the sculptures encompass a wide range of themes and sizes. The festival typically commences in late May, enchanting visitors until early October, and best of all, entrance to the festival is free, allowing everyone to appreciate these awe-inspiring creations.
Shuang River Estuary
As you venture towards Fulong Beach, don’t miss the opportunity to explore the captivating beauty of the Shuang River estuary, situated between Fulong Train Station and the beach. While most visitors directly access the beach in front of Fulong Hotel or opt for the scenic route via the Longmen Suspension Bridge, the estuary’s lush mangrove-filled surroundings should not be overlooked.
During the summer and fall, the river mouth becomes a paradise for renting canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards, enabling you to immerse yourself in the local ecosystem and experience the tranquility of the area.
